Group news Sept - Dec 2011
Manchester Hunt Sabs have had a very busy start to the season with new and old faces and a full van more than once. We started the first weekend in September, our earliest start in years, picking up where we left off at the Badsworth and Bramham Moor with comrades from Sheffield and West Yorks. They weren’t where we thought they were going to be but didn’t take long for a bit of detective work to track em down.
The following week we again headed over to Yorkshire. A very good morning of sabbing a hunt who had not been done by our reckoning for several years was nearly spoilt only by excessive and ridiculous policing with our driver being really put through the mill by one particularly obnoxious female cop. Made to wait half an hour for traffic police to turn up to make sure we didn’t have red diesel we could at least kind of have the last laugh when said traffic officer made his displeasure at being dragged out there by some petty pro hunt cop plain for all to see.
Since then we have been more local at the Holcombe Harriers a couple of times who for the most part seem to trail hunt….at least when we are there. Returning to the Badsworth we have had to deal with the twin problems of more and more Police (with a section 60 every week within an hour of sabs getting there) plus increasingly aggressive support which culminated in an attack on sabs the second to last time we were there (and one of said sabs then getting nicked). Neither of these problems have however stopped us sabbing and saving foxes or from going back more recently where we were joined by 4 mounted cops, a PCSO on a quad bike (his career highlight) and the local plod copter (see image left)
Anyway. No more early mornings. Thank frak! Want to get involved? You know where we are.
We have old sabs, we have new sabs, we now have a van so if you live in or near Manchester why not join us?
Please send an email to nwhuntsabs at hotmail.co.uk if you want to go out sabbing.
